Thomas-More Prep Marian High School (2009-13)

Four years ago, Father Earl Befort commissioned us to create the windows for the chapel at Thomas More Prep-Marian High School. The Alumni office and donors for these windows, led by Father Earl Befort, chose seventeen saints and sacred figures to be depicted in the chapel. Father Earl envisioned using as much strong color as possible, and saw the windows as a source of education and meditation on the lives of the saints.

Stained glass supply companies offer many different types of glass, some translucent, some opaque and many textures. Usually, the translucent glass provides the greatest color intensity. For diversity we used as many different types of glass in each window as we could. There are an average of two hundred individual panes in each window, eighty percent are repeatedly hand-painted and then fired in the kiln. This gives each subject depth and definition. The construction is the copper foil technique, which provides for thinner lines and better detail. Approximately five pounds of solder goes into soldering on both sides.
